(a) Whether the Government have undertaken any scheme to promote the use of official language in the Official Language Golden Jubilee year;

ANNEXURE `A`

Details of Schemes to be implemented during the official Language Golden Jubilee Year

1. A Hindi fortnight was celebrated from 14th September to 30 th September, 99 to welcome the Golden Jubilee Year. During this period various programmes /competitions were organised.

2. Hindi workshops were organised.

3. Various journals are being brought out by different officers of the Ministry. Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd had brought out Hindi periodicals `Naman` and `Tarang`.

4. The availability of Hindi Telephone directories in the Hindi speaking states has been ensured.

5. All the three departments of the Ministry have been computerized and training was imparted to the staff to use Hindi on computers.

6. Hindi Advisory Committee of the Department of Posts, Department of Telecommunications and Department of Telecom Services are being reconstituted.

7. Instruction have been issued to all the Offices to promote the use of Hindi in the Official work and to achieve the targets set by the Department of Official Languages.

8. All India Official Language conference are being /proposal to be held during the year in different circle offices.

9. A Calendar of various cultural programmes has been framed and accordingly events are being held. Various competitions are being organised for the family members of the employees of the Department.
