Question : CTET EXAM



(a) whether the Government has introduced Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) in the country;

(b) if so, the salient features of the CTET;

(c) whether the qualifying marks/ standard was same for General,SC,ST and OBC candidates to qualify CTET 2011;

(d) if so, the reasons therefor;

(e) the total number of General, SC,ST and OBC candidates who appeared in CTET 2011 Paper-I, II and the number of candidates who qualified the CTET, paper-wise and category-wise;

(f) whether to protect the interests of SC&ST candidates the Government proposes to prescribe lower marks/ qualifying standard in future and retrospectively to CTET 2011;

(g) if so, the details thereof; and

(h) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) from 2011. The first CTET was conducted in June 2011. Under CTET two papers are held, one for those who wish to become a teacher in class 1 to V and another for those who wish to become teacher in classes VI to VIII.

(c) & (d): The CBSE has issued certificates and statements of marks to candidates of all categories securing marks 60% and above. Appointing authorities can consider giving concessions to persons belonging to SC/ST/OBC/differently abled category in accordance with respective reservation policies.

(e): The details of number of candidates are as under:–
