Question : DAWKI LAND CUSTOM STATION

:

(a) whether Dawki Land Custom Station, Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya is one of the oldest and most important Land Custom Stations in the North Eastern region of the country and an entry point of trade and commerce between India and Bangladesh;

(b) whether there has been a long standing demand of the people of the region that Dawki Land Custom Station may be designated as the entry point for import of agro-based and horticultural products and for setting up of a Plant Quarantine Office at Dawki keeping in view the growing trade and commerce between India and Bangladesh; and

(c) if so, the action taken or proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard to fulfil the demands of the people of that region?
