(a) the number of posts of teachers lying vacant in various Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in the country, State-wise and category-wise and the number of temporary teachers posted against the vacant posts;
(b) whether the Government has any proposal to fill up the posts of vacant teachers by open recruitment/request transfers or to take the temporary posts as permanent;
(c) if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the efforts made by the Government to fill up these vacant posts?

(a) The State-wise and Category-wise numbers of vacancies of Teachers is placed at Annexure.
(b) to (d) Filling up the vacant posts in Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) through direct recruitment/promotion is a continuous process. Teachers are engaged on contract basis to meet the requirement of teachers as a stopgap arrangement. At present, against a total of 2158 posts lying vacant in the NVS, 1629 teachers have been engaged on contractual basis by the concerned Regional Offices of the Samiti.
