(d) if so, the details thereof;
(e) whether the Government has implemented various schemes for improving livestock production in the country; and
(f) if so, the details thereof and the funds allocated to various States during the last three years and the current year, State-wise?

NATIONAL LIVESTOCK POLICY

Will the Minister of AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE ???? ?? ???? ?????? ?????? be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government proposes to chalk out a National Livestock Policy;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the draft has been prepared and sent to State Governments for their consideration;
(d) if so, the details thereof;
(e) whether the Government has implemented various schemes for improving livestock production in the country; and
(f) if so, the details thereof and the funds allocated to various States during the last three years and the current year, State-wise?

ANSWER

THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE
(SHRI SUDARSHAN BHAGAT)
(a) to (d) National Livestock Policy, 2013 was notified on 18th April 2013. The Policy aims at providing uniform guidelines to the States with the aim of increasing livestock productivity and production in a sustainable manner, while preserving animal bio-diversity and ensuring bio-security and farmers’ livelihood. The salient features of the National Livestock Policy include: improvement in production & productivity; reorientation of livestock breeding policies; laying down Standards & Protocols; infusion of appropriate technologies for quality assurance; and strengthening infrastructure & services.
(e) & (f) In order to complement and supplement the efforts made by the States for improving livestock production Government of India is implementing the following Schemes:
a) National Programme for Bovine Breeding & Dairy Development
b) Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme
c) National Dairy Plan-I
d) National Livestock Mission

Details of the funds released during each of the last three years and current year, State-wise under these schemes is given at Annexure-I.
