Question : CANCELLATION OF WAITLISTED TICKETS



(a) the number of rail tickets cancelled in the waitlist in the financial year 2013-14;

(b) the steps being taken by the Railways to remove the disparity in the number of passengers in the waiting list and the availability of seats;

(c) whether there is any scheme to provide information to the people regarding the availability of all seats in trains, class-wise; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a): The number of waiting list tickets cancelled in the financial year 2013-14 were 3,30,82,803.

(b): With a view to meet increased demand during rush periods, special trains are run and extra coaches are attached to regular trains on all Indian Railways subject to operational feasibility.

(c)&(d): Information regarding class-wise availability of accommodation in all reserved trains can be accessed through Indian Railways’ website as well as across computerised Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters.
