Question : PSU`S IN ALUMINIUM SECTOR

(a) whether there are any PSUs in the aluminium sector;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the details of the investment, product-wise capacity employment generation and application of Government`s policy with regard to PSUs in the aluminium sector?

(a)&(b) There are two PSUs in the aluminium sector, namely, Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) and National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO).

(c) BALCO :-

(i) Equity - Rs. 244.42 crores (100 per cent held by the Government.)

(ii) Product-wise capacity - BALCO has the capacity to produce one lakh tonnes of saleable aluminium from its integrated plant. The capacity of different products is as follows :-

Rolled Products	-	40,000 tonnes.	Properzi Rods	-	42,000 tonnes.	Extrusions	- 7,000 tonnes.	Ingots & Others	-	balance.
Total	-	1,00,000 tonnes.

(iii) Total number of employees	- 7134.
