(a) the amount provided by the Union Government for dairy development in Uttar Pradesh during each of the last three years, scheme-wise;

(b) whether the Union Government monitors the utilization of this amount; and

(c) if so, the achievements made in dairy development in the State?

(a): The details of amount released by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries for dairy development to Uttar Pradesh during the last three years under the Intensive Dairy Development Programme (IDDP), Assistance to Cooperatives and Strengthening Infrastructure for Quality and Clean Milk Production, are as follows:

(b): The implementation of the approved projects is monitored through Quarterly Progress Reports received from the implementing agencies and meetings of the Technical Management Committees constituted under the schemes. The review meetings/video conferences are also held regularly alongwith visits of the experts from the Headquarters to monitor the implementation of the schemes and the utilisation of funds released.

(c): Under the IDDP, 1600 village level Dairy Cooperative Societies have been formed with more than 1 lakh farmer members procuring around 74000 litres of milk per day as on 31.12.2004. 3300 farmer members have been trained during the year 2004-05 for adopting good hygienic practices for producing good quality milk under the scheme “Strengthening Infrastructure for Quality and Clean Milk Production”. Four District Milk Unions namely, Mathura, Moradabad, Varanasi and Aligarh have been assisted during last three years. The performance of Mathura Milk Union has been reported as satisfactory while the performance of Moradabad and Varanasi Milk Unions have been reported as moderately satisfactory. The rehabilitation plan of Aligarh Milk Union was approved only in March 2005.
