Question : BODO LANGUAGE



(a) whether the Government has taken initiatives to help facilitate the use of the Bodo Language for all official purposes since the same language has already been included in the 8th Schedule to the constitution by an Act of Parliament in 2003;

(b) if so, the steps taken so far in this regard; and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): As per Article 343 of the Constitution of India, the official language of the Union is Hindi. English language has also been allowed to be used for official purposes. Article 345 of the Constitution provides for adoption by the Legislature of a State of any one or more of the languages in use in the State or Hindi as the language or the languages to be used for all or any of the official purposes of that State.

(b) & (c): In view of reply to part (a) above question does not arise.
