STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (A) TO (D) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 61 TO BE ANSWERED ON 07.02.2022 ASKED BY SHRI M.V.V. SATYANARAYANA, HON’BLE MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT AND SHRI TALARI RANGAIAH, HON’BLE MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT REGARDING ESTABLISHMENT OF CENTRAL UNIVERSITY AT ANANTAPUR
(a) The Thirteenth Schedule to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, inter alia, provides that the Government of India shall take steps to establish Central University in the State of Andhra Pradesh. Accordingly, Central Universities (Amendment) Act 2019, for establishment of Central University of Andhra Pradesh (CUAP) with territorial jurisdiction to the whole of the State has been passed by the Parliament and assented to by the Hon’ble President of India. The provisions of the said Act have come in force w.e.f. 05.08.2019. The University has started functioning from the academic year 2018-19.
(b) to (d) On the basis of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for establishment of new campus, Government of India has sanctioned Rs.450.00 crore. Ministry releases funds as per the demand/requirement of the University. An amount of Rs.8.00 crore, Rs.4.80 crore and Rs.18.44 crore has been released to CUAP during the year 2018-19, 2020-21 and 2021-22 (As on 31.01.2021) respectively.
