Question : Compensation for Land Acquired

(a) the norms laid down by the Government for the payment of compensation for the land acquired to widen the existing highways;

(b) whether the Government proposes to pay higher compensation to such land owners who have not accepted the compensation though their land was acquired for the construction and widening of National Highways;

(c) if so, the details and status thereof;

(d) whether the Government has issued instructions to all the agencies to pay higher compensation and the set facilities to the land owners; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (e) The amount of compensation for acquisition of land for National Highways (NHs) projects is determined in accordance with the provisions contained in Section 3.G of the National Highways Act, 1956. On promulgation of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RFCTLARR) Act, 2013, the RFCTLARR (Amendment) Ordinances from time to time and the RFCTLARR (Removal of Difficulties) Order, 2015, relevant instructions/clarifications regarding applicability of the provisions of the RFCTLARR, 2013 regarding determination of the compensation for the acquisition of land for NH projects have been issued from time to time to the concerned agencies implementing the NH projects.
