Question : NATIONAL IMMUNISATION PROGRAMME IN ORISSA



(a) whether Infant Mortality Rate and Child (0-4 years) Mortality Rate (both rural and urban) in Orissa are much more than the national average;

(b) if so, the details thereof during the last three years;

(c) the preventive measures being taken to tackle such menace; and

(d) the present status of National Immunisation Programme in Orissa?

(a) Yes, Sir.

(b) As per the estimates of Sample Registration System (SRS), Infant Mortality Rate and Child (0-4 years) Mortality Rate in Orissa and India for the last three years are given below:-

(c) Under the Reproductive and Child Health Programme, immunisation against six Vaccine Preventable Diseases, management of acute respiratory infections and diarrhoeal diseases, essential new-born care and prophylaxis against Nutritional anemia and Vitamin A deficiency are being provided.

(d) The reported coverage in the State of Orissa in percentage under National Immunisation Programme during the year 1999-2000 is as under:-
