undergraduate and postgraduate engineering courses, only 9,15,196 seats were filled

situation. In the last 3 years, (313) institutions have been permitted to be closed
down on their request.
(d): No Madam. There is no provision in AICTE Act, 1987 for closing down of engineering
colleges by the Government. However, the colleges, willing to close down can apply on
the online portal of AICTE.
