STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (A) TO (C) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 194 TO BE ANSWERED ON 08.03.2021 ASKED BY DR. MOHAMMAD JAWED, HON’BLE MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT REGARDING DEGREE COLLEGES IN KISHANGANJ
(a) : As informed by the State Government of Bihar, there is a Government Degree college in Baisa that is functioning from the academic session 2019-20. Furthermore, as informed by University Grants Commission (UGC) four colleges in the district of Kishanganj are included under Section 2(f)/12B of the UGC Act 1956 viz., M.H. Azad National Degree College Bashir Nagar; Marwari College, Kishanganj; Nehru College, Bahadurganj; and R.K. Saha Women’s College, Gayatri Ashram. As informed by All India Council for Technical Education there are presently 6 technical institutes in KishanGanj which are approved by AICTE namely, Government Engineering College , Azmet College Of Engineering & Technology, Azmet Institute Of Technology, Millia Polytechnic, Millia Kishanganj College Of Engineering & Technology and Govt. Polytechnic. In addition, the Government of India established one Centre in Kishanganj (Bihar) in 2013 under the ambit of Aligarh Muslim University. The Centre offers two years full time MBA program with intake of 60 seats.
(b) and (c) Since Education is in the Concurrent List of the Constitution of India, hence State/UT Government are to play a vital role in the implementation of the National Education Policy. However, recognising the need for central assistance, the Central Government has implemented various schemes supporting State Governments. The college can start course(s) including professional one, after getting permission from its affiliating university and concerned Statutory Body/Bodies
