Question : Waste-to-Energy Plants

(a): the number of operational waste-to-energy plants in the country, State/UT-wise;

(b): the quantum/volume of municipal solid waste/effluents utilized/processed per day in these plants and the quantum of electricity generated therefrom;

(c): whether the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model has been adopted for the functioning of these plants; and

(d): if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): At present, five waste-to-energy plants using Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) with cumulative installed capacity of 66.4 MW are in operation (Commissioned/Under trial) in the country. These projects have been set up following Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model involving Urban Local Bodies and Private Sector Companies. The plants are being run by private sector entities in collaboration with urban local bodies. The State/UT-wise details of these plants with installed capacity and quantity of MSW utilized / processed are given at Annexure.
