Question : COMPENSATION TO FIRE VICTIMS



(a): whether one year has passed since the fire broke out at the Indian Oil Corporation Depot, Jaipur, Rajasthan and 11 persons were killed in the said accident;

(b): if so, the details thereof;

(c):whether compensation of Rs. 10 lakh to those killed was announced;

(d): if so, the details thereof;

(e): whether six employees of the IOC including SC/ST employees have not so far got the said compensation; and

(f): if so, the reasons therefore and the time by which it is likely to be paid?

(a) to (f): In the incident of fire that broke out on 29.10.2009 at oil depot of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOC) at Jaipur, Rajasthan, 11 persons had died, including 6 regular employees of IOC. Family members of all the 6 diseased employees of IOC, including SC/ST employees, have been paid compensation ranging from 22.70 lakhs to Rs. 117.0 lakhs in line with the policy of the Corporation, i.e. 100 times of basic pay and Dearness Allowance. In respect of death caused by the fire to persons other than regular employee of the Corporation, IOC had paid compensation of Rs. 10 lakh per case.
