(a) whether irregularities have been reported in the disbursement of pension in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD);
(b) if so, the details thereof including details of the beneficiaries who have claimed pension both from the MCD and the Delhi Government;
(c) the action taken by the Government in this regard; and
(d) the further steps taken to check such cases in future?

(a) & (b): After checking the details of the pensioners getting pension from the
Social Welfare Department of the Government of NCT of Delhi, the Municipal Corporation
of Delhi (MCD) has found that 3583 pensioners were getting pension both from the MCD
and the government of NCT of Delhi. A statement indicating the zone-wise number of the
beneficiaries getting pension from both the MCD and the Government of NCT of Delhi is
placed at the Annexure.
(c): The names of these 3583 beneficiaries have been deleted from the pension list of
the MCD. The Zonal Deputy Commissioners of the MCD have also been directed to take
further action to recover the amount of pension illegally received by these beneficiaries.
(d): To prevent such duplicity in future, the zonal Deputy Commissioners of the MCD
have been instructed to send details of pensioners to the Social Welfare Department of
the Government of NCT of Delhi regularly. The MCD has also taken steps to verify the
genuineness of the pensioners; prepare a software which could help in checking duplicate
payments, etc.
