Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE (SHRI MOHANBHAI KUNDARIA)

(a) to (c): Government has not proposed to launch any special Potato incentivisation programme under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) in the country.

RKVY already provides complete flexibility to the States in planning and implementing State specific interventions across agriculture and allied sectors including potato production. Many States including Tripura, Karnataka, Assam, Jammu & Kashmir and Gujarat have already taken up projects under RKVY for enhancing potato production, procurement & distribution of certified potato seeds, storage and value addition relating to potato crops etc.

In addition, Government is also implementing Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) for promoting fruits & vegetables including potato.
