(a) whether some of the power projects in the country including Gundia Hydel Project have started without obtaining environmental
clearance;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and
(c) the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (c) : All the Hydro Electric Projects which are under construction and are likely
to yield benefits during the 11th Plan have already
obtained Environmental clearance.
As per information obtained from Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd. (KPCL),
Gundia H.E. Project (1x200=200 MW) has not been taken up under construction. Clearance of
Ministry of Environment & Forests (MOEF) is under process. Only investigation works have
been conducted in terms of the pre-construction permission accorded by MoEF. As per the
available information, no power project has started construction without obtaining
environmental clearance.
