Question : ROTA VIRUS



(a) whether the Government has conducted any study on rota virus and its effects on human health;

(b) if so, the details and the outcome thereof;

(c) the steps taken/proposed by the Government to contain and create awareness about the disease in the country;

(d) whether the Government has authorised any pharmaceutical company to propagate the effects of rota virus; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Several studies at different points of time have been conducted in India, indicating widespread occurrence of rotavirus infection and disease in all regions of India.

(c): There are no specific interventions by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW) to contain and create awareness about the disease in the country. However, awareness through mass media and inter-personal communciations and promotion of oral rehydration solution is carried out for prevention and control of diarrhoea

(d) to (e): The MOHFW has not authorised any pharmaceutical company to propagate the effects of rota virus.
