Question : Development of Railway Station as World Class Station

(a) whether Varkala Sivagiri Railway Station in Kerala has been selected by the Indian Railway Station Development Corporation (IRSDC) to develop it as a world class station and if so, the present status of the plan;
(b) whether IRSDC prepared a master plan for the same and if so, the details thereof along with the estimated cost and funding in this regard;
(c) whether the State Government of Kerala has signed an MoU with IRSDC and set up any high power committee for the same; and
(d) if so, the details and outcome thereof?

(a) to (d): Yes, Sir. Varkala Sivagiri Railway Station has been entrusted to Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited(IRSDC) for undertaking Techno-economic Feasibility Study as a part of the station redevelopment programme of Railways.
IRSDC has initiated a draft Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) between State Government of Kerala and IRSDC for redevelopment of Varkala station.
