(a) whether the Government is planning for bringing Central Institute of Buddhist Studies
(Deemed University) under the ambit of UGC;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) if not, the reasons therefor;
(d) whether the Government has any proposal to convert the Ladakh Cluster University
which was announced under RUSA into a Central University in the UT of Ladakh;
(e) if so, the details thereof; and
(f) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (c) : Central Institute of Buddhist Studies, Leh, Ladakh has been declared as Deemed
to be University on 15.01.2016. This Deemed to be University is presently under the
control of the Ministry of Culture and fully funded by it.
(d) to (f): The Ladakh University has been established by the Government of Jammu and
Kashmir by enacting the Ladakh University Act, 2018 (Governor Act No. LVI of 2018) on
16.12.2018. Infrastructure grants can be given to the University for its establishment and
quality improvement under RUSA.
