Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS

(SHRI RAJEN GOHAIN)

(a): No, Madam.

(b): Does not arise.

(c) & (d): The proposal regarding opening of a new railway station at Redipalayam between Thanjavur junction and Alakkudi railway stations was examined but not found feasible from engineering point of view. There is also no commercial justification for opening of a railway station within 3 kms of Thanjavur Junction and adequate road transport facilities are already available at the proposed site.
