Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) whether the number of heart transplants have increased in recent years in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof during the last five years;
(c) whether the Government has any plan to develop artificial heart to save the people in future; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): As per the data available with National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO), 25, 54, 110 and 129 heart transplants were done in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 (upto 31.10.2016), respectively. This information is based on the inputs received from the transplant/retrieval hospitals and other related organisations.
(c): The Government is not involved directly in such activities.
(d): Does not arise.
