Question : GROSS ENROLMENT RATIO



(a) the Gross Enrolment Ratio at primary, upper primary, secondary, higher secondary and college levels in the country,State-wise and the comparison with the neighbouring and advanced countries;

(b) the literacy rate in the country, Statewise, and the comparison with the neighbouring and advanced countries;

(c) the student-teacher ratio and the actual shortage of teachers at various levels, State-wise; and

(d) the present rate of school dropouts?

(a) & (b): According to the District Information System for Education ( DISE ) and the provisional report of the All India Survey on Higher Education-2011-12, the Gross Enrolment Ratios (GER) of the All Categories students in the country in primary, upper primary, secondary, higher secondary and higher education are given below:-

Literacy Rate (Age 7 Years and above) of the country as per Census 2011, is 73.0%. State-wise details of Literacy Rate (Age 7 Years and above) and Literacy Rate (age 15 years and above) of neighboring and advanced countries are at Annexure ‘II’& ‘III’

(c): According to the District Information System for Education (DISE) and the All India Survey on Higher Education-2011-12, the Student Teacher Ratio in the country at different levels of education is given below

(d): According to the District Information System for Education (DISE), the annual average dropout rate in the country for the primary level was 4.67 %, for upper primary level was 3.13% and for the secondary level was 14.54% during 2012-13.
