Question : MEGA CITY PROJECTS



(a) the number of infrastructural development projects approved, total cost of the projects, number of projects completed, number of on going projects and number of projects yet to commence under the centrally sponsored Mega Cities Scheme in Calcutta;

(b) the details of release of Central share, State share and Institutional mobilisation so far under the project;

(c) whether the ongoing projects are likely to be completed on schedule; and

(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a)&(b): A Statement is enclosed.

(c)&(d): The projects under the Mega City Scheme are implemented through the Nodal Agency which in the case of Calcutta is the Calcutta Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA). These are infrastructure projects which are generally of long gestation and, therefore, fixing a definite time frame for completion is difficult. However, based on the information furnished by CMDA, a number of projects are nearing completion.
