Question : Post Office Passport Seva Kendra

(a) the amount of space provided to the Passport Department in the Head Post Office of the district to open a Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) in each Parliamentary Constituency of the country;

(b) the measures taken by the Government to provide space to Passport Department in the event of the unavailability of space in the post office; and

(c) the number of districts in Madhya Pradesh where space has been provided by the post offices to open a POPSK so far?

(a) & (b) As per MoU signed between Department of Posts (DoP) and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), DoP shall provide 300 Sq. ft. to 1000 Sq. ft. space in Post Office at mutually agreed locations. Accordingly, space between 300 Sq. ft. to 1000 Sq. ft. has been provided to the Passport Department to open Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in the designated Post Offices as per availability and feasibility. As per MoU no further measures are required to be taken by the Department of Posts to provide space to the Passport Department in the event of the unavailability of the same in the concerned Post Offices.
(c) 17 districts of Madhya Pradesh have Post Office Passport Seva Kendras functioning at Post Offices
