Question : IMPORT OF CRUDE OIL FROM MIDDLE EAST COUNTRIES



(a) the average import of crude oil by India from the Middle East countries in a year;

(b) the difference paid annually in comparison with the European and American countries;

(c) whether the Union Government have ever taken up this matter with the Oil producing countries in the Middle East; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a): The crude oil import by PSU oil companies from Middle East countries for the year 2001-02 was 28.563 million metric tonnes out of total crude oil import of 44.878 million metric tonnes.

(b): No comparison of the difference paid annually in comparison to European & American countries can be made due to multiple grades of crude oil involved.

(c): No, Sir.

(d): Does not arise.
