THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS(SMT. PRENEET KAUR)
(a) & (b) External Affairs Minister visited China on 7-8 February 2012
to inaugurate the new Indian Embassy Complex in Beijing. During his visit
he met with Mr. Zhou Yongkang, Member of the Politburo Standing Committee,
Mr. Dai Bingguo, State Councillor, Mr. Yang Jeichi, Foreign Minister and
Mr. Wang Jiarui, Minister, International Department of the Communist Party
of China. The two sides agreed to designate 2012 as the âYear of India-China
Friendship and Cooperationâ. The two sides discussed all issues of bilateral,
regional and global significance.
(c) & (d) India has raised this issue with the Chinese side on many occasions
including at the highest level. Government has clearly conveyed Indiaâs
consistent position that Pakistan has been in illegal occupation of parts
of the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir since 1947. Government has conveyed
its concerns to China about their activities in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir,
and asked them to cease such activities. Government keeps a constant watch
on all developments having a bearing on Indiaâs security and takes all
necessary measures to safeguard it.
