Question : DEVELOPMENT OF AIRPORTS THROUGH PPP



(a) whether the Government has decided to operate, manage and develop 20 Airports across the country including Chennai and Kolkata through Public Private Partnership (PPP);

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government is also considering to offer 100 per cent sake to private parties at six airports and if so, the details thereof; and

(d) whether the Government has invited qualification documents in this regard and if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. As per the recommendations of the Task Force on Financing Plan for 12th Plan period, Government of India (GoI) has `in principle` decided to bring operation, management and development of twenty airport at Chennai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Guwahati, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneshwar, Coimbatore, Trichy, Varanasi, Indore, Amritsar, Udaipur, Gaya, Raipur, Bhopal, Agartala, Imphal, Mangalore & Vadodara in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode in a phased manner.

(c) & (d): GoI has invited the applications from the prospective parties seeking their qualification. For this Requests for Qualification (RFQ) have been issued. The other details including nature of equity participation is in the process of finalisation for Request for Proposal (RFP). The details of issued RFQ are as under:

(i) RFQ for Chennai and Lucknow Airport has been issued on 03.09.2013.

(ii) RFQ of Jaipur and Ahmedabad Airport has been issued on 12.09.2013.

(iii) RFQ of Kolkata & Guwahati Airport has been issued on 18.09. 2013.
