Question : BURST OF HIGH PITCH VOLUME



(a) whether the Government are aware of sudden burst of high-pitch volume of sound that pierce the ears of viewers of Doordarshan and Cable telecasts during the songs in movies and commercial advertisements and its consequential sound pollutions to the viewers;

(b) if so, what is the permissible limit of sound level of telecasting of such advertisements and songs in India at par with developed countries abroad;

(c) if so, the steps taken/being taken in this regard; and

(d) if not, the reasons thereof?

(a) to (d): Though no limit of sound level of telecasting of advertisements and songs has been laid down, the broadcaster is expected to keep the comfort level of the viewer/listener in mind in this regard.
