Question : Dry Bulk Commodities

(a) the details of amount of dry bulk commodities and percentage thereof handled by non-mechanised facilities at various ports in the country;
(b) the steps taken by the Government to shift to mechanized or optimized facilities;
(c) the details of availability and utilisation of port owned equipments at various ports in the country; and
(d) whether these are as per the latest norms prescribed in this regard and if not, the reasons therefor and the steps taken in this regard?

(a) Madam, the amount of dry bulk cargo and percentage thereof handled by non-mechanised facilities at various major ports in the country is enclosed at Annexure.

(b) The Government has taken up mechanisation projects in major ports for mechanised handling of cargo to bring efficiency in port operations.

(c)&(d):Major Ports mostly have equipments provided through outsourcing andthese equipments are as per prescribed norms.
