Question : RECRUITMENT OF SAFAI KARAMCHARIS IN NDMC

(a) whether the attention of the Government has been drawn to the news item under caption `Tham nahin raha hei NDMC mein 350 safai karmiyaon ki bharti ka vivad` published in Navbharat Times on March 30, 2005

(b) if so, whether the Government proposes to order CBI probe into it;

(c) if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the candidates belonging to general category have been recruited in place of SCs/STs candidates; and

(e) if so, the action being taken against the officials of the NDMC in this case?

(a): Yes, Sir. The New Delhi Municipal Council has reported that the matter has been looked into and the individual cases of recruitment mentioned in the newspaper report have been found to be baseless. 350 Safai Karamcharis were appointed on daily wages in the Health Department after obtaining the sanction of the competent authority and after following the prescribed procedure and existing criteria.
