Answer given by the minister

(a) (b) (c) and (d): No, Sir. However, the Government recognises the need for protecting/securing data, sensitive personal information, and transactions on the internet and ensuring the integrity of nationally critical information systems and networks. In this direction, the Information Technology Act 2000 provides for secure use of Electronic Media and Promotion of E-Governance and E-Commerce, with prescribed modes or methods for encryption. The Government fully respects the upholding of right to privacy of citizens and acknowledges the need for protection of private data against misuse. There is no intention by the Government to implement a policy breaching the right to privacy of citizens.
