Question : Construction of Road Over Bridges on NH-1

(a) the number of deaths while crossing National Highway (NHs) during each of the last three year, National Highway-wise;

(b) whether the Government proposes to make road over bridge or under bridge for pedestrians in Kundli to check accidents on National Highway No. 1 in district Sonepat of Haryana, if so, the details thereof, if not, the reasons therefor; and

(c) the steps taken by the Government to check such accidents?

(a) No separate record of number of deaths while crossing National Highways is maintained. However, the total number of persons killed on National Highways inclusive of drivers, passengers and pedestrians during the last three years are as below.

(b) Yes Madam. Government proposes to construct two foot over bridges at Km 30.750 & Km 31.900 and two flyovers at Km 29.151 & Km 31.330 at Kundli on National Highway No. 1 in district Sonepat of Haryana.

(c) Government is providing Zebra crossings, road signs, rumble strips, foot over bridges and pedestrian underpasses etc., depending on the traffic requirements, availability of resources and inter-se priorities in National Highway improvement projects to check pedestrian accidents /fatalities.
