Question : Low Cost Houses by Private Agencies

Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN POVERTY ALLEVIATION be pleased to state:

(a) whether any private agencies have succeeded in providing low cost houses in the metro cities;

(b) the number of such houses constructed by these agencies during the last three years in metro cities; and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor and the response of the Government thereto?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING & URBAN POVERTY ALLEVIATION

(a) to (c): Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) {PMAY (U)} Mission has been launched on 25.06.2015 to provide central assistance to the implementing agencies through States and UTs for providing houses to all eligible families/beneficiaries.

Private sector participation is envisaged under the Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) and In-situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR) components of the PMAY (U) mission. Central assistance of Rs.1 lakh


per house, on an average, under the ISSR component and Rs.1.5 lakh per house under AHP component, is admissible for projects approved under the mission.

Details of projects approved under AHP and ISSR components of
PMAY (U) mission and houses constructed thereunder in major metro cities, are Annexed.
