Question : UNORGANISED SECTOR WORKERS

(a)the total number and percentage of workforce employed in the organised and unorganised sectors in the country;

(b)the funds allocated and utilised under various welfare schemes implemented by the Government for the workers of the unorganised sector during each of the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise; and

(c)the other steps being taken to secure the rights of the workers of unorganised sector in the country?

(a): According to the survey conducted by the National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) in 2009-10, the total employment in both the organized and the unorganized sectors in the country was 46.5 crore, of which 43.7 crore (about 94%) were in the unorganized sector.
