Question : DISCOUNTED AIRFARE SCHEME



(a) whether the Government has unearthed any scam/fraud in the airlines’ discounted airfare schemes during each of the last three years and the current year and if so, the details thereof, airline-wise;

(b) whether the Government has received complaints from the passengers availing benefits of such schemes for deficiency in service/frauds by the airlines during the said period and if so, the details thereof, airline-wise along with the action taken by the Government on these complaints;

(c) whether the Government has conducted any study regarding feasibility of such schemes and if so, the details and outcome thereof along with the steps taken or being taken by the Government to check/ moniter these schemes; and

(d) whether the airlines have submitted the proportion of seats allotted for their discounted airfares to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and if so, the details thereof ?

(a): No, Madam.

(b): Offer of discounted fare is commercial aspect of air transport services. If the airlines fail to fulfill their obligations, the passengers may complain to the statutory bodies set up under relevant applicable laws.

(c): No such study has been conducted by DGCA.

(d): Airlines are not required to submit the proportion of seats allocated for their discounted airfare to DGCA as per prevailing regulations issued by this office.
