Question : ASSISTANCE FOR CONSUMER PROGRAMMERS

(a) whether the State Government of Kerala has requested for financial assistance to upgrade consumer commissions/district fora and for purchase of vehicles for enhancing consumer protection awareness programmes in the State;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the response of the Government thereto;

(c) whether the Government is providing financial assistance to the States to implement/improve consumer awareness programmes; and

(d) if so, the details of such assistance provided to the States during each of the last three years, State-wise?

(a) : Yes, Madam.

(b) : The Kerala Govt. on 2ndSeptember, 2012 had asked for financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 80 lakhs for purchase of vehicles. Financial assistance is not admissible for purchase of vehicle under the scheme of` Strengthening Consumer Fora`.On earlier occasions, the Govt. of Kerala has been provided financial assistance to upgrade State Commission/District Fora as under:
