STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 368 FOR ANSWER ON 10.09.2007.

During 2007-2008, Border Roads Organization (BRO) proposes to spend a sum of Rs.1635.58 crores for construction/ improvement of 1497.38 Km of Border Roads in the country.

2.BRO have planned the construction/improvement of 262.49 Kms of roads of Operational/strategic importance in North Eastern States during 2007-2008 at the cost of Rs.321.27 crores. BRO also has a plan to construct/improve 150.39 Km of roads in North Eastern States under Special Accelerated Road Development Programme- North East (SARDP-NE) at the cost of Rs.250.00 crores. Thus the total length of roads to be constructed/improved by BRO during 2007-2008 is 412.88 Kms with the total cost of Rs.571.27 crores.

3. In Assam 129.97 Km of road is to be constructed during 2007-2008 at the cost of Rs.147.92 crores.
