Question : Skill Development of SC, ST and EWS

(a) whether the Government has any data with regard to the SC and ST candidates who got trained through Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, Jan Shikshan Sansthan and Short Term Training courses for Skill Development of these candidates under the Skill India Mission and if so, State-wise details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;

(b) whether the Government has fixed any target for compulsory enrolment of SC, ST and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) students under the Skill India Mission and if so, the State-wise details thereof; and

(c) whether the target is accomplished so far and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor and the action taken by the Government in this regard?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (A) TO (C) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 361 TO BE ANSWERED ON 22.03.2021 ASKED BY SHRI BHAGWANTH KHUBA AND SHRI SUNIL KUMAR SINGH REGARDING SKILL DEVELOPMENT OF SC, ST AND EWS

(a) Yes, Sir. The State/UT-wise number of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) candidates trained/oriented in short term training of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 2.0, and Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) under Skill India Mission is given at Annexure.

(b) and (c) While no target has been fixed for compulsory enrollment for SC and ST under PMKVY and JSS schemes, it has been the endeavour to ensure that opportunity for skill training is provided to persons belonging to these groups. Under PMKVY 2.0, 12.73% and 4.53% trained candidates are SCs and STs, respectively, while under JSS, 27.05% and 13.04% trained candidates are SCs and STs, respectively. This scheme covers all section of society including economically weaker section. However, data as such for EWS is not maintained under the schemes.
