(a) the aims and objectives of Rashtriya Military Schools and Sainik Schools along with the details of such schools;
(b) the criteria laid down to set up such new schools in various States;
(c) whether the students studying in these schools are being provided with all the facilities by the Government;
(d) if so, the details thereof; and
(e) if not, the steps taken/being taken by the Government to overcome the shortcomings?

(a) There are 05 Rashtriya Military Schools in the country. The aim of the Rashtriya Military Schools is to impart quality education and to prepare the cadets to join the Defence Services.
There are 31 Sainik Schools in the country with the primary aim of preparing boys academically, physically and mentally for entry into the National Defence Academy. The objectives behind opening of Sainik Schools are:-
(i) To remove regional imbalance in the officer cadre of the defence services.
(ii) To develop qualities of body, mind and character which will enable the young boys of today to become good and useful citizens of tomorrow.
(iii) To bring public school education within the reach of the common man.

(b) There is no proposal with regard to opening of new Rashtriya Military Schools.
Sainik Schools are established on receipt of a specific request from the State Government, which is required to provide infrastructure in the form of land, educational and residential buildings, sports field etc.
(c) & (d): The cadets studying in Rashtriya Military Schools and Sainik Schools are provided with the following facilities viz. training, Classrooms and allied infrastructure, Messing, Lodging & Boarding facilities, Sports facilities ,Curricular and Co-Curricular activities, Merit-cum-means scholarship to eligible cadets, Medical facilities etc.
