(a) Yes Sir.
(b) Organisations of this Ministry, India Meteorological Department (IMD), Indian Institute
of Tropical Meteorology(IITM), Pune as well as other Indian research institutions and
research Groups in the country are conducting several new and ongoing studies in
association with the International community to assess the impact of rising air pollution
and global warming. India is an active member of the World Meteorological Organization
(WMO) and important contributor to the World Climate Program (WCP) and the Atmospheric
Research and Environment Program (AREP). India is also an active partner in the Global
Climate Observations System (GCOS) for monitoring climate and allied environmental parameters.
