(a) to (c) : Health is a State subject. Hence State Governments are primarily responsible for preventive, promotive and curative aspects of Health care services. Many State Governments have initiated health sector reforms to improve health care facilities. State Health Systems Project with World Bank Assistance aimed at improving and upgrading the secondary level health care facilities is presently under implementation in seven States. Funds are also provided under Pradhan Mantri Gramodaya Yojana (PMGY) for improving functional status of rural primary health care institutions.
