(a)to(c):Yes, Madam. At present 37 projects under Public Private Partnership (PPP) and 32 non PPP projects involving an investment of Rs.44,585.22 Crores and capacity addition of 463.60 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) have been taken up in twelve Major Ports. The details of these projects are annexed.
(d) These projects when completed will lead to creation of significant employment opportunities. The extent of new employment opportunity created will depend on the nature of the project and level of mechanisation.
(e) Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) upto 100% under automatic route is allowed in the Port sector. A number of reputed foreign companies have been participating in the bids for projects in ports, particularly on PPP basis for container terminals and capital dredging projects.
