(a) whether there are still several coal mines in the country where institutions of private sector are engaged in mining;

(b) if so, the number of such mines, State-wise;

(c) the annual production of these mines, mine-wise; and

(d) the coal deposits in the areas lying under these mines?

(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. There are total of 9 coal mines in the country excluding Meghalaya State, where coal is being extracted by private sector companies. 7 of these mines are in the State of Jharkhand and one each in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal.

(c) & (d): The annual Production from and coal deposits in the area lying under these mines, minewise are as follows:-
