(a) whether the Government has decided to recruit 1500 coaches or trainers from among all the players of the country to fill up the existing vacant posts and ensure better co-ordination;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the number of coaches/trainers likely to be recruited in Maharashtra; and
(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (c) No Sir. The total sanctioned strength of coaches’ in Sports Authority of India (SAI), an autonomous body under the aegis of this Ministry is 1524, out of which as on date, 478 posts are vacant in various grades viz. Assistant Coach, Coach, Senior Coach, Chief Coach.
Assistant Coach grade post is a feeder grade post, filled through Direct Recruitment, out of which 5% and 1% posts are reserved for Olympians and Para-Olympians respectively. Apart from this 10 posts in the grade of coach are also reserved for Olympics/ Para-Olympics medal winners.
Individuals having Diploma in Sports coaching or an excellent track record as sportspersons are considered against the vacancies of Assistant coaches in SAI. The selection of coaches is not done State wise.
