Question : OPERATING COST OF CRUDE OIL



(a) the operating cost per ton of crude oil of the various public and private sector refineries during 2003-04 and 2004-05;

(b) the marketing cost per ton incurred by various public and private sector oil companies during the said period; and

(c) the reasons for variations in the cost?

(a) The information on Public Sector refineries is given in the Annexure I.

(b) The information on Public Sector oil companies is given in the Annexure II.

(c) The principal reasons for variation in operating cost in different companies are one or more of the following:


(i) Normal escalation

(ii) Change in throughput

(iii) Depreciation on new projects

(iv) Higher depreciation

(v) Higher repairs and maintenance expenditure

(vi) Payment of one time royalty of new projects

(vii) Impact of VRS compensation

(viii) Credit of the gas cost for the refinery

(ix) Increase in electricity duty on own power generation by State Government
