Question : Effectiveness of Nuclear Medicines

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) the details of the Government hospitals where nuclear medicines is prescribed and practiced;

(b) whether any study has been conducted with regard to the effectiveness of nuclear medicines;

(c) if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether there are sufficient number of competent doctors for nuclear medicines in the country; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): As per the information provided by Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), the details of AERB approved Government hospitals, which are practicing Nuclear Medicine, are given in Annexure.

(b) & (c): AIIMS, New Delhi has informed that a number of studies carried out worldwide have documented the utility and effectiveness of nuclear medicine techniques for imaging and therapy. There are few areas where the use of Nuclear Medicines techniques are undisputed and present in textbooks also.
(d) & (e): AERB has informed that as on date all the Nuclear Medicine (NM) facilities approved by it are complying with the requirement regarding the availability of NM physicians as prescribed in their safety code.
