(a) whether the Government have constituted the Development Council for Tyre and Tube Industry in
order to review their problems;
(b) if so, work done by the Development Council so far; and
(c) the steps taken by the Government to check the slow down in the growth in automobile sector
and its export?

(a) & (b): The Development Council for Tyres & Tubes Industry was constituted in November 1997
for a period of two years and its tenure expired in November 1999.
(c): The Department of Heavy Industry is formulating a New Auto Policy in order to make the
industry competitive thereby promoting growth.
